Twenty first century meets Civil War girl

Well, I finally did it! I wore my Civil War day dress on the campous grounds. I could not stand the thought of knowing that the dress was in my closet and I missed the fun of re-enacting so much that I decided to be the odd one out and wear it. I have to say it was a lot of fun, I will probably do it again. But I had to document such an amazing escapade.

Think of the astonishment of the young girl from two hundred years ago plus, to see that men now dive horseless carriages, they eat strange food, and have these flat pieces of nonwood articles on which people can write on, they call it a laptop. Such strange contraptions to behold and new things to discover. All in all she had a marvelous day and returned back to her world and nursing duties on the battle fields of the Civil War.

Little Things I missed

The fresh air, a few rolling hills and trees surround me, and laughter from family and friends wafting through the winter breeze. Yes, this is what I had been missing, the country.  A country gal can only take so much of buildings constantly staring at her as her heart longs to be running free for only a few minutes. The thought of Spring Break had filled me with anticipation of seeing the country once again,  only if it was just for a week.
So there I was on Spring Break, back home in the country. It's was a wonderful feeling and you never know what you miss until you are away from it. One of the first thing my friend Hannah and I did was go down my family's zipline, we were both still in classroom dress-which is a skirt and a nice shirt-and I was wearing my awesome mud boots. I've missed those too. =)

I love the zipline

On Monday, I taught my siblings their school, I recognized how multitasked you must truly be in order to homeschool five kids at once, with different grade levels. But it was fun day.

On Wednesday, we celebrated the Jewish Holiday of Purim. We dressed up like Esther or Mordecai, and had a supper that included:

Hamantaschen--Haman's hat
Challah
and we had Vegetable Stew as well.

The crazy but festive family
Friday, my mom and I went shopping and I was able to get some really good deals at Shopko, they were having a 100th anniversary sale, so lots of good bargains.  We were also able to go see my brother and my nephews. I love those little guys, wish though that I could be there more. But I got to hold my newest nephew Memphis and rock him to sleep.Loved every minute of it. =D

My youngest Nephew and I

Airwalk shoes that I bought on sale. I've always wanted a pair. =)

A Personal Pie Maker. Sales are amazing!

Sunday, my dad took my friend Hannah and I back down to college, and break was over. It was time to hit the books and papers once again.
Early Sunday Mornin', not quite awake yet.
Made this Butterscotch Delight for Sunday Dinner at my dad's request.

It's a whole new world....

Well, I'm deciding to make the move from Wordpress to Blogspot. So far I've been impressed with the easy layout and how easy it is to figure things out on here. That is always a plus. Now that I have decided to move here, I must say goodbye to Wordpress and my old blog, www.countrygal18.wordpress.com ), perhaps I shall use old posts on here. This is a new journey for me in the blogging world and a new journey in the real world. The decsions on where God might be leading me, what I am to do this summer, where I'm suppose to go in the fall, etc fill my mind often, yet I am learning to trust in my Lord. It is an amazing thing to be able to lean on a rock that does not move.
